Early this morning, dry snow was falling at the top of the resort, carried by occasional strong gusts of wind from the northwest. The ungroomed steep slope in the middle of Han-no-ki (pictured) had 25 to 30 cm of light, fresh snow, and with no hard bumps or tracks on the base beneath, the high-quality powder provided an exceptional floating sensation.

The groomed section of the Han-no-ki Slope (pictured) was topped with 3 to 5 cm of light, fresh snow, with a perfectly soft powder surface from top to bottom. My edges gripped firmly, my skis glided smoothly, and with the added benefit of powder, it was exhilarating to ride at full speed!

I met a man from Hakuba (pictured, second from the right), who told me, “I always check the Snownavi site! I’m hosting six friends from Hokkaido from yesterday until tomorrow.” His friends shared their impressions, saying, “The snow in the Hakuba area isn’t too light or too heavy—and when you press into it, you get a nice rebound, making it really fun to ski!”

The Champion Quad started operating earlier than scheduled at 8:35 a.m. The vast Champion Slope had a 150-meter-wide groomed section in the center, while the ungroomed areas on both sides were covered in 25 to 30 cm of fresh snow. The first skier to hit the slope (pictured) said, “We hit the jackpot with Champion today! You should forget about work and enjoy the powder too, Mr. Snownavi.”
