The OGASAKA SNOWBOARDS NEW MODEL Test Ride Event is taking place at Sanosaka on 2/22 (Sat.) & 2/23 (Sun.), next to the 6th Pair lift station (starts at 10 a.m., free participation, ID required). I spoke with a staff member (pictured), who told me, “We’ve brought 20 different models and about 80 boards in total. Each test ride lasts about 30 minutes—try as many as you like and have fun!” Right next door, Hakuba Sports is also hosting a Boot & Binding Test Ride Event (also starts at 10 a.m., free participation).

At the Boot & Binding Test Ride Event, participants can try bindings from six brands, including Bataleon, Drake, and Flux, as well as boots from Head and Flux, all for free. Additionally, the first 20 customers who pre-order a model from next season’s OGASAKA SNOWBOARDS at Hakuba Sports will receive an invitation to a free lesson from Hiroshi Koshi and Yuko Nakamoto. In terms of weather today, it was a calm morning with dry snow falling steadily.
[Paradise]

The well-packed groomed powder snow on Lake Down and Lake View was topped with a layer of 3 to 5 cm of light, fresh snow, making for an enjoyable ride. Over on Paradise and Paradise Downhill, the combination of a firm, groomed powder base and 2 to 3 cm of light new snow created excellent, easy-to-ride conditions as well.

With the early rush typical of a long weekend, both the 1st and 2nd parking lots were already full by 9:30 a.m. Additionally, tomorrow, 2/23 (Sun.), will be the final Sunrise Ski session of the season. Oh, and just like the strongest and longest cold wave of the season that lasted from 2/4 (Tue.) to 2/11 (Tue.), this current cold wave, which began on 2/17 (Mon.), is forecasted to linger for a total of eight days.
