This morning, a member of the ski patrol staff shared, “We’re truly grateful for the many visitors today. Everyone looks like they’re having a great time.” While the early morning brought clear skies, heavy snowfall began around 9 a.m. as the REWILD Lift started running. I met two riders (pictured), who mentioned, “The surface of Rewild was a bit crusted over, but the ungroomed Nirei felt amazing!”

Just as they said—Rewild (first photo) looked smooth and tempting, but as a south-facing slope, its top 5cm had crusted over, making for challenging conditions. I heard some shrieks and disappointed comments from skiers going through, such as, “Ahhh, shoot. I waited so long for this!” On the other hand, the northwest-facing Sasuke (pictured) and Alekoko were covered in fluffy powder, drawing excited cheers.

At any rate, the snow that falls during the week remains untouched until the weekend at Ninja, offering plenty of untracked options like Alekoko (pictured), Sasuke, the skier’s right side of Drago, Shine, Rewild, and Nirei. On the groomed runs today, Blackbeat featured firm, powder-like wet snow, while Shinko and Gomarugo had a moderately firm, groomed powder base.

A staff member from GREEN.LAB shared, “Thanks to everyone’s support, ‘ON SNOW JAM’ is now in its 9th year. We’ve had a great turnout again, and the event is buzzing with excitement.” This event, held on 2/22 (Sat.) & 2/23 (Sun.), offers a chance to test, try on, and pre-order new models of snowboards, snowskates, yuki-ita (snow decks), and outerwear. Plus, at 1 p.m. on both days, a rock-paper-scissors tournament will be held, where 10 winners each day will receive a JPY5,000 cash prize.
