Ninja REPORT

2025.02.24130 cm / Snowy

Snow was coming down steadily this morning, the final day of the long weekend, and the two organizers of the “Ninja Snow Scoot Game,” scheduled for 3/1 (Sat.) and 3/2 (Sun.), shared, “In addition to timed slalom, technical competitions, and freestyle sessions, there will also be activities like a test ride event and a rock-paper-scissors tournament that don’t require entry in advance. We encourage everyone to come and experience snow scooting!”

The resort grew livelier around 9 a.m., as children’s ski lessons began, which is typical of a busy long weekend. The Shinko course (pictured), which takes a large detour from the REWILD lift exit and merges with Gomarugo midway through before descending to the base area, had moderately firm, groomed powder snow that made for smooth and comfortable skiing. The snow was firm enough to allow my skis to glide effortlessly.

The groomed base of Drago (pictured) was hard packed and topped with less than 1 cm of light new snow, which produced the familiar sound of scraping hard snow with each turn. The ungroomed areas, however, maintained a soft snow quality, allowing for smooth gliding with no drag or bounce, making it surprisingly easy to ski on.

Shine (pictured) is also known as “Furiko-zawa” due to its large, pendulum-like terrain swings from side to side. The groomed snow here had 2 to 3 cm of light new snow on top, providing an ideal surface for making big turns and carving along the terrain on both sides. The groomed surfaces of Blackbeat and Ukai Shinobu had similar, moderately packed powder conditions, making for great skiing.
