With abundant snowfall and consistent cold temperatures, the winter season at Hakunori has been extended by 12 days, with the final day now set for 4/6 (Sun.). Given the current conditions, it seems the season will comfortably last until then. This morning, with a hint of sunshine through the clouds, dry snow began falling around 7:30 a.m. and continued throughout the morning.
[Highway Course]

The Highway Course and Rabbit Course had well-packed, groomed powder snow bases topped with 1 to 2 cm of light new snow, and the edges of my skis firmly gripped the snow surface. By 9:30 a.m., the area was buzzing with the energy typical of a long weekend, and the parking lot next to the Hakunori Family Course was almost full.

The Wakaguri Central Slope had a moderately firm, groomed powder base, also topped with a light layer of 1 to 2 cm new snow, and was also very smooth to ski on. The mogul course, which had been buried under heavy snow, was cleared and had been re-opened! As the bumps were still shallow, it was great conditions for mogul beginners to try out.
[Wakaguri Central Slope]

The groomed Wakaguri Forest Course (pictured) had a moderately firm surface with shallow waves on the skier’s right side. Later on, the mother of two brothers from Kyoto who were sledding down Wakaguri Forest, shared with me, “We always check your reports. We came to Hakunori for the long weekend. We visit the Hakuba area throughout the year.”
