The Ninja Snow Scoot Games, a two-day event celebrating snow scoot riders, is taking place on 3/1 (Sat.) and 3/2 (Sun.). I listened as the event MC called out to the roughly 40 participants, “We’re going to take a photo that will be featured on Snownavi! Come on everyone, smile!” (pictured). With a bright blue sky above toay, it was the perfect weather for skiing, snowboarding, and snow scooting!

With the excellent weather, the peaks of the Northern Alps were clearly visible from Blackbeat (pictured). The groomed snow surface was composed of hard packed wet snow, which required strong, purposeful edge control to avoid slipping. While I tried to carefully control my speed and slide cautiously, the snow scoot riders powered down the slopes.

A snow scoot rider from Nagano City commented, “I came to Ninja for the first time to participate in the event. The snow early this morning was pretty hard.” I observed him repeatedly hitting the kicker, rail, and bank in front of the event headquarters. The timed slalom course competition started on the natural riverbed-like terrain of the Sasuke Course at 11 a.m.

The Dragon Slope was groomed widely, and had a well-packed wet snow surface. Three season pass holders from Nagano City (pictured) shared, “We always use your site! The slopes are really hard. We hope it softens up a bit.” Additionally, a woman from Tokyo mentioned, “I love Snownavi. I brought my child out for ski lessons. It turned out that they were the only one in the class, so they’re having a one-on-one lesson with the instructor!” Around 10 a.m., the snow surface began to soften and became much easier to ski on.
