The greatest base depth for the season will likely be the 650 cm recorded between 2/20 (Thu.) and 2/25 (Tue.), but it’s still unprecedented, and impressive, to have over 600 cm in March. With thick clouds covering the sky this morning, the slopes and surrounding landscape looked exceptionally white. I started the day with a fun, smooth run down the well-packed, groomed wet snow surface along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured).

It was a similarly firm, easy-to-ride groomed wet snow base on the south-side route of Usagidaira (pictured). Meanwhile, the OAKLEY TERRACE just below here will host OAKLEY COMMUNITY DAYS on 3/8 (Sat.) to 3/9 (Sun.). The event will feature a variety of activities, including a RIDE WITH THE PROS session with Oakley team rider Ryo Aizawa, a snowball target game, and a chance to try on Oakley goggles and helmets.

The Skyline Course (pictured) and the Kitaone Traverse Cat Track both had firm, groomed wet snow bases, while the Sakka Wave and Sakka Slope featured groomed wet snow, though slightly less firm surfaces. The ungroomed areas along the Alpen Quad and Kurobishi 3 Pair were marked with firm, medium-sized moguls.

I ran into a skier from Kanagawa (pictured), who shared, “I love Snownavi! I’m a season pass holder for Happo. These conditions are really impressive for March.” At HAPPO PARKS, the firm, groomed wet snow base and the elements were in excellent shape.
