Today we’ll take a look at two courses that haven’t been featured yet this season! While the main Panorama Course (1,200m, max 21°, avg 10°) is a top pick for its repeatability, the Slalom Course (pictured, 500m, max 20°, avg 12°) is just as appealing. This moderately steep, open run allows for efficient laps, especially on weekends, via the Yodel No. 2 Quad. I spoke with a female visitor from Denmark (pictured), who shared, “I’m here for a week with my friend (pictured, background left), and we’re enjoying everything Japan has to offer. JAPOW is amazing!”
[Slalom Course]

The Silver Course (pictured, 600m, max 19°, avg 8°) meanwhile, is a gently-sloping, easy-to-ride groomer. This morning, this quiet, often-overlooked course featured a moderately soft, groomed powder-like wet snow base, while the Slalom Course (first photo) had 10 to 15 cm of slightly heavy fresh snow on top of a firmly-groomed wet snow surface with a powdery feel.

Snow was coming down hard, and there were occasional strong north winds gusting across the north-facing Utopia A and B courses (pictured), which were topped with 10 to 15 cm of light, fresh snow, and had moderately soft powder bases! The gentle cushion underfoot felt fantastic. I also enjoyed a mini powder run on the ungroomed areas to the side, where 15 to 20 cm of fresh snow had accumulated.

The Family Slope (pictured) and Panorama Course featured 5 to 10 cm of slightly moist fresh snow on top of hard packed, groomed wet snow bases.
