The newly opened standing café on the first floor of Castor Plaza (pictured) is a great spot to stop by for a quick break. Open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays, it offers hot coffee, cappuccino, three types of soft-serve ice cream, and four varieties of crepes. The staff’s top recommendation is the Matcha Azuki crepe (¥550), made with matcha-infused crepe batter and stuffed with azuki red bean paste.

The early morning sleet had turned into light rain around 7:30 a.m. New Paradise (pictured) had 10 to 13 cm of wet new snow over a well-packed, groomed wet snow base, and the heavy snow quality made turns somewhat challenging. Meanwhile, the south side of the 5th Pair, with a moderately firm, groomed wet snow base and 1 tp 2 cm of wet new snow on top, offered much smoother and more comfortable turns.

On the Carving Slope (pictured), the moderately softened, groomed wet snow base allowed for smooth gliding and good speed. A couple from Shiga Prefecture shared, “We always follow your updates! The snow is just the right softness—perfect for us. Whenever we visit Hakuba, we stay at Hotel Hakuba. We saw a last-minute vacancy last night, so we decided to make a spontaneous trip to ski today.”

Paradise (pictured) and Paradise Downhill had comfortable conditions with well-packed, groomed wet snow bases with 1 to 3 cm of fresh, moist snow on top. Meanwhile, on Lake Down and Lake View, the 45th Annual All Japan National Public University Ski Championship is taking place over three days from 3/4 (Tue.) to 3/6 (Thu.).
