The Hikage Kids Park features two moving walkways: one with a dome cover (pictured) and one without—and both are free to use! On a day like today when wet snow is falling, the covered walkway is especially convenient. In other news, the Snow Sports Day with Naski! event will be held here on 3/22 (Sat.) at 9 a.m. (*Participation fee ¥1,000 per parent-child pair, advance registration required.)

The temperatures on the upper slopes was colder than expected this morning, creating a mystical atmosphere with frost-covered trees and fog. The Kokenashi Slopes A and B (pictured) had about 2 cm of light, dry new snow on top of well-packed, groomed wet snow bases. While many visitors headed toward the Yamabiko Slopes, I enjoyed more relaxed runs here where it was quiet.

The Uenotaira and Paradise slopes (pictured) had 2 to 3 cm of light new snow over firm, groomed wet snow bases. I enjoyed making wide, sweeping turns on the expansive 220m-wide Paradise Slope. Meanwhile, Schneider, Challenge, and Utopia B had hard, groomed wet snow bases, with the new snow on top becoming noticeably wetter as I descended.

The Uenotaira Snow Park, which consists of three areas, underwent a revamp on the upper sections yesterday. The right lane now features a 5m down rail, a knoll, and a triple wave, while the left lane includes a tabletop, a triple wave, and another tabletop. I spoke with a digger who mentioned, “We’ll be adding jib items today and tomorrow.”
