Hakuba Norikura REPORT

2025.03.07390 cm / Snow & Sunshine

It’s been 20 years since the 2004-05 season when the Warabidaira Slope became part of Cortina, slightly reducing Hakuba Norikura’s overall ski area. But compared to back then, Hakunori now feels more than twice as large! This expansion is thanks to the widening of the self-responsibility area, including the addition of the No. 11 Pair Lift. This morning, I headed to the standard area accessible with just one ride on the No. 3 High-Speed Pair (pictured).

From last night to this morning, the northern side of the HAKUBA VALLEY saw significant snowfall, and many skiers and riders were dropping straight into the self-responsibility area on the south side of the Highway Course after getting off the No. 3 High-Speed Pair. However, I made my way to a spot near the old No. 2 Pair lift station (pictured), where the chance of scoring first tracks remains high even after 10 a.m.

I met a skier from Aichi Prefecture (pictured), who shared, “I always check Snownavi! I’ve been chasing untracked powder and have been trying new drop-in points, so I’ve managed to score six powder runs in the self-responsibility area already this morning.” By the way, the drop-in point just above the No. 3 High-Speed Pair lift station also sees relatively few riders.

The self-responsibility area along the Alps No. 11 Pair lift (pictured), which was introduced in the 3/4 (Tue.) report, requires a signed waiver for access. However, areas like the south side of the Highway Course and the west side of Sky View do not require one. That said, these are unmanaged areas, so please exercise caution when riding. Incidentally, strong winds were blowing this morning.

*On 3/8 (Sat.) and 3/9 (Sun.), the Cardiff Snowcraft Demo Event will be held on the lower part of the Hakunori Family Course! In addition to Cardiff Snowcraft splitboards, you can also test bindings and skins.
*The Alps No. 9 Pair lift will be out of service for the rest of the season due to mechanical issues. A snow buggy will be running between the 9th Pair Lift base and Wakaguri Central area.
