Around 8:30 a.m., when the Skyliner (pictured) started operating, the sky was covered in thick clouds. The temperature dropped all the way to -6°C, but with almost no wind, the cold wasn’t too noticeable. Being the weekend, visitors arrived early, and by around 8 a.m., the 3rd parking lot, which provides the easiest access to the slopes, was about 70 to 80% full.

The moderately packed, groomed wet snow base on the Panorama Course (pictured) provided great conditions for executing smooth turns first thing in the morning. Tatemizu-no-saka had a tightly packed, groomed wet snow surface typical of Nomugitoge, with excellent conditions for effortless gliding. Around 9:30 a.m., dry snow began to fall, carried by the strengthening northern winds.

Snowboarders from Kochi and Kagawa Prefectures (pictured) shared, “We occasionally check the Snownavi site. We left Shikoku at 6:00 p.m. yesterday and arrived at Nomugitoge at 1:30 a.m. After resting at our accommodation, we’re feeling great, but we’re a bit intimidated since all the other snowboarders here are so skilled.” The firm, groomed wet snow on the steep slopes of the Expert and Champion courses was the stage for advanced riders showing off their sharp carving turns as they quickly descended.

The Training Slope (pictured) and Family Slope had a moderately firm mix of granular and wet snow that provided an easy-to-ski surface. By the way, due to the Matsumoto City Ski Competition taking place tomorrow, 3/9 (Sun.), access to the Champion Course 2 will be restricted until 12:30 p.m.
