March at Happo offers a variety of course conditions, from powder to corn snow, and groomed runs to moguls, that change depending on the weather and time of day. What sets this year apart from an average season is the abundant snowfall and the brilliant whiteness of the snow! Starting today, Spring Discount prices are available, with one-day lift tickets priced at ¥5,500 for adults, ¥2,500 for children ages 6-17, and ¥4,950 for those aged 65 and older.

Additionally, starting today, the first round of entries has begun for the final race of the Banked Slalom series, the HAPPO BANKED SLALOM, which is one of the NORTH ALPS BANKED SLALOM events. This morning, the Riesen Slalom Course (pictured) had a firm, groomed wet snow base at the top, with well-packed granular snow from the middle to lower sections. I was able to enjoy smooth, fast turns all the way from top to bottom!

I was able to turn confidently on the well-packed, groomed wet snow bases of the Usagidaira South Route, the Kurobishi Quad area, and the Skyline Course (pictured). The moderately firm, groomed granular snow on the Kitaone Traverse Cat Track had some areas where the surface was damp due to sun exposure. Under the calm, clear skies, it was a cold morning due to overnight radiative cooling, but after that, the strong sunshine raised the temperature, making it more comfortable for skiing.

The moderately packed, groomed granular snow surfaces of Sakka Wave, the Sakka Slope (pictured), and Shirakaba Slope made for smooth, fast skiing. I had the pleasure of meeting a couple from Aichi Prefecture who shared, “We always read your reports! We took the day off because the forecast was for sun, and it turned out to be a great decision!”
