This morning, I spoke with a visitor from Aichi (pictured), who shared, “I always check your site! I usually ski at Ontake and Meiho. By the way, the katsudon at Restaurant Orion is delicious!” During this season’s “Resort Food Battle,” Orion’s wild boar miso hot pot set meal (weekdays only) took 3rd place. With a strong focus on food, Orion offers plenty of other tempting menu options as well!

Today, skies were calm and sunny, and I enjoyed making smooth turns on the moderately firm, groomed packed powder snow of the Central Course (first photo) and Mikasa Wing Course. “With the fresh snow this morning, the conditions are great for skiing,” was the comment from a skier tackling the three mogul lanes on the Expert Course (pictured). The leftmost lane featured smaller bumps, making it a great option for those looking to ease into moguls.

I caught up with a father from Aichi (pictured), who said, “I love Snownavi! My daughter and I often see Mt. Ontake from Kaida Kogen Mia and Yabuhara Kogen, and we thought, ‘We want to ski closer to Mt. Ontake!’ So we decided to come back here for the first time in 20 years.” For reference, Mt. Ontake stands at 3,067 meters, making it the second-highest independent peak in Japan after Mt. Fuji.

Rewinding back to the early morning, another skier from Aichi (pictured) told me, “I always check your site! I love Ontake’s high-altitude location and excellent conditions. This is my fourth season as a season pass holder.” Both the Panorama A Course (third photo) and Karamatsu Avenue (pictured) had well-packed groomed powder.
