Happo claimed the top spot in the nationwide ski resort base depth rankings from 3/4 (Tue.) to 3/6 (Thu.) and again from 3/11 (Tue.) to 3/13 (Thu.)! While circumstances such as Tengeidai Kogen’s reduced operations due to a water outage played a role, having a base depth of 600 cm is still very impressive. It was another beautiful morning, with even warmer temperatures and sunnier skies compared to yesterday.
[Riesen Slalom Course]

The Riesen Slalom Course (first photo) and Panorama Course (pictured) had hard packed groomed corn snow bases early this morning. Since Riesen faces east, its surface began to soften a bit earlier. Both offered fast conditions, so I had to be careful to control my speed while skiing.

I met a skier from Kyoto (pictured) who shared, “I always check your reports! This season, I’ve been skiing mostly at Myoko Kogen, but after seeing your slope reports, I thought Hakuba might be a great choice, so I took some time off and came.” Later on, due to strong winds on the upper slopes, the Grat Quad was suspended around 9:10 a.m.

The south-side route of Usagidaira had a hard, groomed corn snow base to start, but since it faces east and receives direct sunlight, it began to soften early on. Around the same time, the north-facing area along the Kurobishi Quad still had firm groomed corn snow conditions. The two ungroomed mogul lanes near the Kurobishi 3 Pair were also hard packed in the morning. Meanwhile, the Kitaone Traverse Cat Track, Sakka Wave, and Sakka Slope featured soft, groomed corn snow surfaces.
