The snow that fell throughout the day yesterday had stopped, giving way to pleasant sunny weather. The slope alongside the Tsugaike No. 1 Pair lift (pictured) was covered in moderately packed, powder-like wet snow. This hidden gem remained remarkably quiet even after 9 a.m., allowing me to carve tracks again and again on pristine corduroy grooming.

Going back to first thing in the morning, the moderately firm, groomed wet snow on the Han-no-ki Slope (pictured) had a powdery feel. The excellent conditions made the roughly 3-km-long run feel surprisingly short. Only near the end of the slope did I notice a slight touch of moisture on the surface, but it didn’t affect the smooth glide at all.

I spoke with a snowboarder from Shizuoka (pictured), who shared, “I always read your reports! When I saw that it snowed yesterday, I took a day off and came out. The snow is pretty good for this time of year. I also check your slope reports when heading to Shiga, Nozawa, or Myoko.” The occasional sunshine brought a touch of March warmth to the day.

A student from Ritsumeikan University’s Kintaro Ski Club (pictured) shared, “I’ve been staying at the Sunrise Tanne lodge near the Kane-no-naru-oka Slope since February. I get to enjoy some morning runs during my free time, and this season I’ve been able to ski a lot—I’m really satisfied!” The Maruyama Slope (pictured) also had smooth, easy-to-ski groomed wet snow with a pleasant powder-like feel.
