I met a gentleman from Kanagawa first thing this morning who told me, “The groomed snow on the Champion course felt fantastic. Now I’m heading to the No. 13 Lift, because I’m pretty sure it’s ‘Madapow’ conditions up top!” The upper groomed slopes and tree areas (pictured) were covered in pristine fresh snow and frost, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene that far exceeded my expectations!

I spoke with the first person to ride the No. 13 Lift, a snowboarder from Chiba (pictured), who commented, “I always check your updates. There was less fresh snow than I expected, but it still feels amazing. I got the Mountain Pass today, so I’ll head over to Tangram later.” Although Mt. Myoko (pictured, background) was shrouded in clouds, the surrounding scenery, including Lake Nojiri, was beautiful.
[Adventure Aisle]

I could hear cries of relief like, “Wow, I finally made it through!,” from those emerging from the narrow Adventure Aisle run. Just beyond, Powder Line and Powder Wave 2 (pictured) had 10 to 20 cm of fluffy fresh snow on top of firm, uneven wet snow bases. A group of snowboarders from Mie commented, “The snow was a bit hard.”

The Crystal Slope (pictured) had a nice, moderately packed, flatly-groomed surface with fresh powder snow making a comeback. Meanwhile, the Champion Slope, which I had skied earlier in the morning, had a few spots mixed with granular snow but was generally well-packed groomed powder. With almost no wind this morning, conditions at Madarao were absolutely perfect!
