This morning, while riding the Kumado No. 4 Triple, a mother and daughter (pictured) waved at me and said, “We’re staying in Japan for two months, and every day has been wonderful!” When I asked where they were from, they said Poland! The ungroomed section of the Utopia A Course had 10 to 15 cm of heavy new snow that had accumulated since yesterday afternoon.

I started the day by heading over to the neighboring Akakura Kanko Resort, taking the Champion A Course midway down and entering the Alpen Course (pictured). With the Yodel No. 5 Triple at Akakura Onsen starting at 9:30 a.m., I easily claimed the first run. I enjoyed carving satisfying lines down the freshly groomed, moderately soft wet snow surface.

The Mogul Challenge Course had irregular, deep, and moderately firm moguls with about 15 cm of heavy new snow on top. Meanwhile, the groomed sections of the Sekimi Slope (pictured) and the Downhill Central Course had easy-to-ski, groomed wet snow bases mixed with some granular snow. I decided to not head towards Sekimi, but instead took a left turn, heading towards the Utopia Slope as seen in the first picture.

The Slalom Course (pictured) also had easy-to-ski wet snow grooming. The groomed sections of Utopia A, Rabbit, and Silver featured moderately packed, groomed wet snow conditions. The Utopia B Course was closed due to course preparation for the “AKAKURA X” event on 3/22 (Sat.) and the “X-Festa 2025 Series 5th” on 3/23 (Sun.).
