Happo-one REPORT

2025.03.19610 cm / Snow Flurries

Overall it was a slow start to the morning typical of a weekday in March, though I was surprised by the number of people on the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) who greeted me telling me they were fans of Snownavi. The fresh snow we had all been anticipating turned out to be a modest 10 to 15 cm. The snow that had begun falling late last night had tapered off to just a few flurries this morning.

The Panorama Course (pictured) had a moderately firm, groomed wet snow base with a powdery feel and a fresh layer of 10 to 15 cm of heavier new snow on top. My skis glided smoothly, and it felt great to carve through the fluffy snow. However, once more and more tracks were laid down, the surface quickly turned bumpy.

The area along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) had a nicely-packed groomed powder snow base with 3 to 5 cm of heavier new snow on top! Meanwhile, the ungroomed steep slope along the Kurobishi 3 Pair had 15 to 20 cm of heavier new snow covering a firm, uneven surface marked with tracks. Unlike the Panorama Course, the snow here had been wind-affected, making it harder to maneuver.

There were occasional strong gusts of wind from the north across the upper areas of Usagidaira and Kurobishi. The Skyline Course (pictured) and HAPPO PARKS had 5 to 10 cm of heavier new snow on moderately firm, groomed wet snow bases. HAPPO PARKS will close for maintenance on 3/21 (Fri.), with “HAPPO LINES 2025” event taking place on 3/23 (Sun.), the park’s last day of the season. The Kitaone Traverse Cat Track had a moderately-packed, groomed wet snow surface, while the Sakka Wave and Shirakaba Slope featured a moderately firm groomed mix of granular snow and fresh snow.
