With the final day of the season set for 3/23 (Sun.), the upcoming weekend is your last chance to ski at Nomugitoge Ski Resort this winter. Today (pictured), Vernal Equinox Day, was marked by pleasant clear skies. About 10 cm of fresh snow fell yesterday, and during my visit today, I didn’t spot any areas of thin snow coverage on the slopes, so I’m pretty confident the resort will remain in great condition up until the last day.

The Champion Course 2 (pictured) and Champion Course (third photo) featured firm, easy-to-ski groomed wet snow with a powdery feel. It was impressive to watch advanced skiers carving sharp turns and smoothly descending the slopes, and the unexpectedly good snow quality really highlighted the benefit of Nomugitoge’s altitude.

The Panorama Slope, Tatemizu-no-saka, and Family Slope also had firm, powder-like wet snow bases. Small clumps of snow started to form on the surface of the steep Tatemizu-no-saka slope as tracks were laid. Since the temperature rose slowly, the snow surface didn’t soften much throughout the day.

The ungroomed Mine-no-hara Slope (pictured) offered fantastic views of Mt. Norikura (3,026m) today. A family from Azumino City (pictured) shared, “We always check your site! We’ve made Nomugitoge our home resort since 2006. Not only is the snow quality great, but we also appreciate the good manners of the visitors and the fact that there are no lift lines, even on weekends.”

＊3/22 (Sat.) is “Nomugi Ita-ita Day.” Visitors with anime graphic skis and snowboards can enjoy half-price lift tickets. Additionally, those wearing cosplay or nostalgic snow wear are also eligible for half-price lift tickets.
