Tsugaike REPORT

2025.03.21365cm / Partly Cloudy

This morning, I ran into some part-time staff members from Tsugaike (pictured), with one of them telling me, “We always check your reports! The slopes are firm and fast today. My friend on the left and I (pictured, center)will be working here until the end of March.” By the way, the final operating day for the Kane-no-naru-oka Skyliner II and Romance lifts is set for 3/30 (Sun.), but the closing dates for other lifts have yet to be announced.

The staff member I spoke with showed off some impressive jumps using the natural terrain of the Gotemba Course (pictured). Both this course and the Tsuga-no-mori Slope had firm, easy-to-ride groomed granular snow bases. The Han-no-ki Slope also had a well-packed, groomed granular snow surface that allowed for smooth and enjoyable turns throughout.

Fairly stronger winds from the west were blowing across the upper part of the ski resort, but it was calm around Kanenaru. I met a mother from Nara Prefecture (pictured, left) who shared, “My daughter loves Tsugaike because it’s easy to ski. We come here every year, and we’re staying at Sunplaza Tsugaike tonight. My husband and son took the gondola up.” Many families were enjoying the firmly-groomed spring snow on the Kanenaru slope.

I was greeted by a Tsugaike Ski School instructor who told me they were a fan of
Snownavi” A teacher from Aichi Prefecture chaperoning some students (pictured, second from left) added, “We’re here for a five-day ski club training camp during spring break. The groomed snow is pretty hard packed but easy to ski.” Meanwhile, the first round of entry for the BANKED SLALOM TGK event, set for 4/5 (Sat.), has officially begun!
