When visiting the Kurohime Kogen Snow Park, the view from the highest point of the ski resort, the Mouse Slope (pictured), is a must-see. The sky was hazy and spring-like this morning, but I was able to see Lake Nojiri in the distance. The Mouse Slope (600m, max 25°, average 14°) had a nice, groomed wet snow surface that was slightly soft from the start.

With the final day of the season just two days away, the slopes are blessed with a solid 170 cm of snow at the base area. All courses are open, including Sheep (pictured), which is home to the KUROHIME FAMILY PARK, and there are no bushes or other obstructions on the runs. My first run was down Leo, which had a moderately firm, groomed wet snow surface with a powdery feel in the shaded areas.

The moderately packed, groomed wet snow on Sheep (pictured) was starting to soften, but both skis and sleds were gliding smoothly. “We always come to Kurohime when skiing with the kids. The weather is great today, and so are the conditions!” said the mother of a family from Chikuma City. Her child (pictured) smiled and added, “It’s so much fun!”

A skier recognized I was with Snownavi and called out, “Conditions are great. I never expected to ski on such great snow this late in the season.” An instructor from the Kurohime Snowboarding School also said, “I always enjoy reading your reports.” It’s here that I must let you know that this will be the final report from Kurohime for the season. Thank you all for following my reports this winter!
