Following the well-received “Yellowtail Cutting Demonstration” held on 2/23 (Sun.) and 3/7 (Fri.), a “Bonito Searing Demonstration” took place today starting at 11:30 a.m. in front of the Yuki-no-hiroba. There I met some visitors from Osaka who shared, “We always check your reports! Today, we came to Tsugaike purely for the bonito searingi!”

bit late, and my editor-in-chief urged me to hurry back—but there was no way I could resist tasting it. The freshly sliced katsuo, topped with onions and green onions, had a crispy, smoky exterior and a tender, flavorful center. It was absolutely delicious! (JPY1,200 per plate.)

Next door was the “Snowboard Demo and Pre-Sales Event” taking place today and tomorrow (pictured). I had a conversation with a snowboarder from Shizuoka Prefecture (pictured, right) who shared, “I check Snownavi occasionally. I came to Tsugaike for this demo event. First, I want to test out a board from the same brand as the one I’m currently using.”

A father from Nara Prefecture told me, “This is our third visit to Tsugaike this season. I wanted to let my daughters (pictured) play at Amidas, but it was closed during our last two visits, so we’re thrilled it’s open now! Since we have season passes through the NSD Kids Program, we can enjoy 30 minutes of playtime for free.” Afterward, I skied the Champion and Oya-no-hara slopes, where the groomed snow surface was slushy spring snow.
