Yesterday, all lifts were closed for the entire day due to a spring storm, but today brought calm skies and ideal skiing conditions. A patrol staff member told me early this morning, “We’re taking extra time to remove debris carried by the wind, so lift operations will start later than usual.” In the end, the Alpen Quad began running at around 9:05 a.m.

Today, I was fortunate to capture photos of the Oshima sisters, who are supported by TEAM RESCUE WAX. Hinano Oshima (pictured), who won the overall title at last month’s “31st Annual All Japan Ski Championships Snowboard PGS Competition Asia Cup”, shared, “I’ve loved Happo ever since I was a young child.”

Hinano also mentioned, “As I prepare for international competitions next year, I’m looking for sponsors to support me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!” (Competing on the world stage comes with significant costs.) Meanwhile, the Panorama Course featured moderately soft, groomed spring corn snow. Hinano’s sister, Sakura Oshima (pictured, right), shared, “For spring skiing, I apply Rescue Wax’s ‘Super Musou,’ ‘Kuro Kokei,’ and ‘Sekko’ along with the edge wax ‘Samurai.’ It makes my board glide really well!”

Sakura (pictured, left) also shared, “I love the Skyline Course. The powder after fresh snows is amazing, but I also enjoy the relaxing ride down the forest road course.” Additionally, due to the strong winds from the afternoon of 3/21 (Fri.) to the morning of 3/26 (Wed.), the base depth at the top of Happo decreased by 150 cm to a total of 450 cm, while the base lower down dropped by 40 cm to 110 cm.
