Tsugaike REPORT

2025.03.31300 cm / Partly Sunny

The Shirakaba Quad, Maruyama No. 1 Quad, Han-no-ki No. 1 Quad, Karamatsu High-Speed Pair, Kane-no-naru-oka Skyliner II, and Romance lifts have finished operations for the season as of yesterday, 3/30 (Sun.). However, Tsugaike still has an impressive amount of terrain open as we cross into April, including a 5-kilometer top-to-bottom long course! Not to mention, the scenery was back to that of midwinter this morning (pictured).

Later on, clouds thickened over the upper slopes, and by around 8:30 a.m., light snow had begun to fall, carried by a gentle north wind. The groomers were in excellent condition, with bases made of a mix of granular and slightly wet snow! The firmly groomed surfaces of the Tsuga-no-mori Slope (pictured), the run along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair, and the Gotemba Course were so good that I found myself wanting to lap them again and again.

As I skied further down the Han-no-ki Slope, the surface snow transitioned to slightly soft granular snow around the midsection (pictured). If you like a bit of softness, lapping the Han-no-ki No. 3 Quad (operating until 4/13) is a great choice. Additionally, the ungroomed areas on both the upper and lower portions of the resort had a thin layer of fresh snow roughly 1 cm deep.

I ran into a couple from Omachi (pictured, the two on the right) who shared, “We always check your reports! We’re skiing today with our friends who are visiting from Kanagawa (pictured, left). The slopes early this morning were pretty hard, but now they’re just right.” The Champion Slope, which wraps up its season today, had a moderately firm snow surface up top that slightly softened towards the middle and lower sections.
