Hakuba Norikura REPORT

2025.03.30260 cm / Cloudy

Early this morning, I spoke with two visitors from Nagano’s Okaya City (pictured), who told me, “We always use Snownavi! We share the same hobbies in both winter and summer. Today is our last day on the slopes thise season, and next week, we’ll be surfing.” It’s clear that a fair amount of snow has melted when comparing the current scenery to that of mid-February—when the official snow depth exceeded 450 cm. However, Hakunori still has an impressive amount of snow for the end of March!

Under a chilly, overcast sky, the Rabbit Course and Wakaguri Central Slope had well-packed, groomed corn snow bases. A skier from Kansai (pictured) shared, “About 40 years ago, I worked part-time at Hakunori. I love this place and make sure to visit two to three times every year. It’s truly a fantastic ski resort.”

The Highway Course (pictured, background left) and Kamoshika Course both had hard, groomed granular snow surfaces. My edges held well, allowing for smooth and fast runs. Two visitors from Toyama (pictured) commented, “We saw you at Cortina yesterday! We came out for the day with friends. The conditions are excellent.”

I had another conversation with two resort staff members (pictured), one of whom said, “I always check your reports! We operate thes groomes operators, and he’s the boss (pictured, left). Today, we were finally able to create a firm, smooth, and easy-to-ride surface.” Shortly afterward, around 9:30 a.m., light, slightly moist snow began to fall.
