Today marked the second consecutive morning of light rain… As a result, thick fog came and went on the slopes, but luckily it didn’t interfere with the skiing. The Highway Course (pictured) and Kamoshika Course had moist, groomed spring corn snow, making for excellent, fast and smooth conditions!

I ran into two visitors from Osaka (pictured) who shared, “This is our first time at Hakunori! We’re staying at the Hakuba Alps Hotel tonight. It’s also our first time snowboarding, and we wanted to join a lesson, but the school has already finished for the season. Can you teach us how to ride?” The Wakaguri Central Slope (pictured) and Rabbit Course had slushy, groomed granular snow bases.

I also spoke with a coach from Australia and some of his junior mogul athletes (pictured, far left), who commented, “We’ve been training in Hakuba for two weeks. The Olympics are the ultimate lofty goal, but we’ll keep working hard!” The well-maintained mogul course had nice soft conditions that made the moguls easy to tackle. The cross course along the No. 5 High-Speed Pair was also in great shape.

Going back to earlier in the day, I had a chat with a ski patrol member (pictured) who said, “Thank you for all your hard work. The groomed slopes are in excellent condition today and are very easy to ski. With only four days left in the season, there’s still plenty of snow. We’ll keep the slopes well-maintained and look forward to welcoming everyone all the way until the final day on 4/6 (Sun.).”
