Goryu47 REPORT

2025.04.11325 cm / Partly Sunny

The rain that fell midday yesterday helped wash away the dirt on the Toomi Slope. Compared to the same time last year, it’s clear that there is much more snow remaining, not only the upper slopes, but even here lower down. Although there’s an area that has been closed off to prevent avalanches from the Expert Course (pictured, right), the groomed zone is still nice and wide. By the time the Goryu Telecabin started running this morning, the sun had broken through the clouds and blue skies began to appear.

I ran into Marika Sota (pictured, far right), a professional rider and lead instructor at the HAKUBA47 Snowboard School, who commented, “Thank you for featuring yesterday’s girls-only lesson event on Snownavi.” She also added, “We’ve prepared accommodation options too—it’s going to be a fun event!” The Grand Prix Course was groomed with a surface layer of spring corn snow that had softened just the right amount.

Continuing from last week’s event, the Alpen Group Ski Test Ride & Order Event is once again being held in front of ALPS360 (pictured, far right) through 4/13 (Sun.). A skier I met (pictured) commented, “I always use Snownavi!” Meanwhile, about half of the middle section of the Panorama Course had been shaped into a mogul course for the upcoming WORLD MOGUL CAMP.

The training camp, taking place on the first-day of the WORLD MOGUL CAMP program, was held on the mogul course built on the Technical Course. An 11-year old skier from Chiba Prefecture who was taking part in the event told me, “I’m really looking forward to it!” After demonstration runs by Nick Page (pictured, left), who took third place overall in the 2025 World Cup mogul ranking, and PyeongChang Olympic gold medalist Mikaël Kingsbury (pictured, right), the lessons began at 10 a.m., and it was inspiring to see the participants watching and listening intently with eyes full of excitement.
