While riding the gondola, I broke through the clouds, and emerged into clear, sunny skies on the upper part of the resort. The area along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair (pictured) had a groomed, granular spring snow base, with a soft surface layer that provided fast, smooth, ideal conditions! TG PARKS will be relocated to the south side of the area (pictured, left) on 4/16 (Wed.).

The Tsuga-no-mori Slope (pictured) had a moderately firm, groomed granular spring snow base that hadn’t yet softened. Early in the morning, most people exited the gondola and headed for either the ropeway or the Han-no-ki Slope, leaving Tsuga-no-mori relatively empty, and perfect for getting some runs in before the snow began to soften.

I met a snowboarder from Hyogo Prefecture (pictured) who told me, “I always check your reports! The sea of clouds was so beautiful, I had to stop and take some photos. I’ll be staying at Giverny Hakuba B&B tonight.” The further I skied down the Han-no-ki Slope, the thicker the uppermost layer of soft granular grew.

A family from Matsumoto (pictured) told me they were fans of Snownavi, and added, “The lower slopes were cloaked in fog, so we were surprised how amazing the weather up top is. And, even though it’s only 9 a.m., it’s already hot.” After posing for a photo, they headed off toward the Han-no-ki No. 3 Quad, which will operate for the last time this season tomorrow.
