This morning, skies were cloudy, and the cool morning air felt refreshing. The Panorama Course (pictured) offered smooth, easy skiing with a groomed, granular spring snow surface that had loosened into a soft, slushy texture, allowing skis to glide effortlessly. The special Banked Slalom course that had been set up at the north end has now been removed, and the Panorama Course has been groomed widely across the slope.

On the southern route of the Usagidaira Slope and the area along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured), the groomed granular spring snow base had a shallow soft surface layer, making it perfect for carving turns. Although the gondola and lift operations were delayed on 4/16 (Wed.) and 4/17 (Thu.) due to strong winds, all seven lifts started on schedule this morning.

After being temporarily closed the past two days, Rest House Kurobishi reopened today. Tomorrow, 4/19 (Sat.), a “Terrain Session” hosted by the Echo Land snowboard shop GARAGE 902 will be held on the currently open areas — Riesen Grat, Usagidaira, Kurobishi, Urakuro, Panorama, and the upper section of Panorin. I ran into three visitors from Kyoto, Aichi, and Gifu prefectures (pictured) who told me, “We follow Snownavi on Instagram! We usually ski at resorts in Gifu, but today we made a special trip out to enjoy a luxurious lunch at Restaurant Pilar.” Only a few skiers were making their way down Riesen Grat, where large spring snow moguls had formed.
