Happo-one REPORT

2025.04.25310 cm / Overcast

Spring means moguls, and moguls mean Happo! In addition to the resort’s famous steep mogul runs along the Usagidaira Alpen Quad and Kurobishi 3 Pair lifts, there are also multiple mogul lanes on the gentler slope beside the Kurobishi Quad (pictured), offering options for all levels and styles of skiers. The fact that the lifts run right alongside each of the mogul courses is another big plus.
[Kurobishi Slope]

This morning, the mogul area on the gentle slope beside the Kurobishi Quad (pictured, right) had a firm underlying base with a soft granular snow surface—perfect conditions for practicing technique. There were also a variety of lanes to choose from, including some with shallower or deeper moguls, as well as those with tighter or wider spacing between.

Looking back at early this morning, the Panorama Course (pictured) had a groomed granular snow base with a fairly deep, soft surface layer. My edges sunk in deep, but my skis still slid smoothly, making it perfect for wide, fast turns across the broad slope. On the groomed sections of both the Usagidaira and Kurobishi Slopes, the slightly softened granular spring snow also held my edges nicely, allowing for comfortable, fast runs.

Between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., there were only occasional strong gusts of wind, but the wind steadily picked up as the morning went on. By 9:30, the Grat Quad, Alpen Quad, Kurobishi Quad, and Usagidaira Pair lifts had all suspended operation. Then at 10:10 a.m., all remaining lifts, including the gondola (pictured), were halted, and at 10:22, it was officially announced that the resort would be closed for the remainder of the day.
