Santa arrived a day early and gifted us with a huge dump of fluffy powder! Unfortunately however, it came along with strong winds that kept the Alpen Quad, Kurobishi 2 Quad, and Skyline 2 Pair closed during the morning. Conditions were fantastic on the Panorama Course (pictured), where between 20 and 40cm of new snow covered the groomed surface, and I found myself wanting to drop in again and again!

I crossed paths with a big group of people from Okayama, Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo (pictured), who told me, “We love your site. We were really looking forward to the ski resort opening and for another great season of powder! We came by car, but there was quite a bit of snow on the roads on the way. We’re pretty relieved we made it to Happo in one piece.” There was a lot of snow on the mountain as well, with as much as 30 to 40cm of fresh snow on the Olympic Course II, located at the bottom of the ski resort.

Test ride events for BLASTRACK & OGASAKA SKI (Usagidaira) and ID one ski (Nakiyama) are proceeding as scheduled today and tomorrow. At Usagidaira, 25 different sets of skis from OGASAKA SKI and 35 sets from BLASTRACK skis can be tested out as many times as you want, for free (*approx. 30 minutes per set), while ID one ski has 50 sets of skis available to try out (*approx. 1 hour per set).

The Nakiyama Snowland (adults & children ¥1,200), located at the base area of Nakiyama, has been open since yesterday, 12/23 (Fri.). The 80-meter-long, dome-covered moving belt (pictured), which can be used without removing skis or boards, is convenient even on snowy days. The area is divided into a kids’ sledding area and a first-time skiers area, with moving belt separating the two areas.
