Shiga REPORT

2023.01.06120cm / Snowy

We have more and more fun in Shiga Kogen because the all areas are open now (*Terakoya is closed temporarily due to the bad health condition of the staff). This time, our reporter went around from Takamagahara Mammoth, Mt. Higashidate, Hoppo Bunadaira, Mt. Nishidate and came back to Takamagahara Mammoth Again. My skis ran very well on the groomed slopes covered with thin fresh snow in Takamagahara.

We can easily access to Rinkan Course (Photo) in Mt. Higashidate from Takamagahara Quad and that groomed slope was nicely firm and covered with 3cm fresh snow. It is a gentle slope, but my skis still ran well, so I enjoy smooth cruising while seeing the beautiful frozen treescape. The snow falling heavily in the strong north wind this morning was getting weaker around noon.

I met children enjoying skiing and their mother (Right on Photo) said, “My husband already skied down. We got more snow, so the slopes are really good today as well.” A skier coming from Mt. Higashidate to Hoppo Bunadaita also said, “Wow, here is such a wide slope!”

In the nicely firm groomed slope of Bunadaira, I could enjoy comfortable riding while raising the 5cm fresh snow topped on the slope. Mt. Nishidate Beginner Course (Photo) was also in the same condition and there were no bushes in the courses although the officially announced snow amount is just 30cm. At around 10:00 a.m, the slopes were getting crowded with families.
