REPORT

The No. 1 Pair, No. 5 High-Speed Pair, and No. 11 Pair were out of service today. The weather was mild and clear throughout the day yesterday and again this morning. A patrolman (pictured) that I met before the start of operation thanked me for my reports, and added, “The groomers are in really good shape again today, though a little softer than yesterday.”

I was able to enjoy some speedy runs on the moderately firm, groomed powder snow surface of the Highway Course (pictured). I spoke with an editor from Ski Graphic who was out to cover Hakunori for an upcoming magazine article. They mentioned that they love the Snownavi site, and commented that it must be hard for me to be out on the slopes every day for work.

My favorite groomed slope of the day was the Kamoshika Course (pictured)! The powder snow surface had just the right level of firmness, and there were not many skiers, so the conditions stayed perfect for a long time. I crossed paths with Mr. Zama from Mura no Kajiya, who was shooting with a new model of skis. He said he loves the Snownavi site, and joked that we’ve been running into each other quite often lately.

The groomed Wakaguri Central Slope and Wakaguri Forest Course both had moderately firm powder snow surfaces, and each saw crowds of students on school excursions arrive around 9:00 am. In other news, a “Kids Event” will be held this weekend on Saturday, 1/14, and the following day, 1/15 (Sun.), is a Kids Ski Free Day where elementary school students and below receive free lift tickets. One last observation; I have definitely noticed quite a few international guests at Hakunori since the beginning of the season.
