We had a beatiful day ideal for riding! It was warmer than usual in Shiga Kogen and the temperature was -6 degrees at 7:00 a.m. In Diamond Area which is the main slope of Ichinose Diamond Ski Area, we could enjoy smooth turns as we wanted on the flat and wide groomed slope.

Although it has been sunny for these 3 days, even the slopes facing the east such as Ichinose Diamond and Ichinose Yamanokami were in great condition as well as Ichinose Family, Takamagahara Mammoth which face the west! I was impressed by the sharp curving of experts in Rabbit Course.

I met a skier from Aichi (Photo) in Mt. Yakebitai this early morning and he gave me the greeting, “I always enjoy your reports! My wife and son haven’t come skiing with me recently, so I’m enjoying it alone. Anyway, the groomed slopes are so amazing!” The groomed slopes of Panorama Course (Photo) and Shirakaba Course were nicely firm.

There are many hotels and restaurants in the base area of Ichinose. Here is Daruma Shokudo which is newly open this season in the first floor of Hotel Japan Shiga. The most recommended menus are “Daruma Don” (JPY1,350), “Shinshu Beef Don” (JPY1,650) and “Shinshu Pork Don” and they must be your favorites with its high quality meat.
