Kumanoyu is always busy in the beginning of the winter season especially in No.2 gentle slope, but it is also recommended to ski here on weekdays because the slopes are quiet. After 45 minutes since I got off No.2 Pair Lift, one of the patrol staff finally came up. He said, “The lower gentle areas are crowded with students on their school trip, but the upper areas are very quiet now.”

The groomed slope of Umanose Course which has 27 degrees at the maximum and 18 degrees at the average was very firm and covered with 1-2cm wet fresh snow. The slope was harder than those of the lower area such as No.2 Gentle Slope, Rinkan – No.3 Gentle Slope and No.4 Gentle Slope, but I could still enjoy smooth turns there.

4 people from Tokyo said, “We are staying at Ishinoyu Hotel for 2 nights. The public big onsen bath was so good.” After that, they were enjoying riding on the slopes from Rinkan to No.3 Gentle Slope (Photo) because No.2 Gentle Slope was crowded with people.

The steep slope of 1A Course (*27 degrees at the maximum, 18 degrees at the average) along No.1 Pair was nicely firm, in wet snow condition and covered with 1-2cm fresh snow as the gentle slopes in the lower areas. Shirakaba Course was also flat enough for easy riding. In the light snow, it was getting colder and the temperature went down to -3 degrees when I left the ski area.
