It was a beautiful day for skiing with clear skies and no wind. The contrast between the blue sky, the rime ice covering the trees on the upper half of the mountain, and the pure white slopes was so beautiful that I found myself admiring the scenery again and again. I quickly chatted with a snowboarder from Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture (pictured), who said, “I love your site! I almost feel bad that we have the East Slope all to ourselves. The conditions are so good”

Conditions were excellent on the East Slope (first photo), where about 2cm of fresh, dry snow sat on top of moderately firm, groomed wet snow that had the feel of powder. Over on VIEW C (pictured), where there are a lot of shaded areas, the groomed wet snow surface was quite firm. Here too, there was a thin covering of fresh snow that made conditions equally as enjoyable as the East Slope.

The excellent conditions continued on the South Slope (pictured), where I spoke with two snowboarders from Yamanashi Prefecture (pictured). They told me, “We love the Snownavi site. Whenever we’ve been nearby at Happo, we always said we wanted to try out Iwatake, and today we finally made it out for our first visit. It is a nice resort.” In other news, the IWATAKE SNOW PARK is complete!

I came across the crew of park diggers (pictured), and after saying that they are fans of Snownavi, I was told that they were scheduled to open on 1/21 (Sat.) but since they finished early, there will be a pre-opening tomorrow, 1/20 (Fri.). Also, from 1/20 (Fri.) to 1/22 (Sun.), the “Eco Fest 2023” will be held, in which a variety of events such as a snowshoeing experience with the judoka Shinichi Shinohara, Nagano Prefecture’s resident comedian Kotetsu, and other guests, as well as a live performance by Manabu Shimizu, and more..
