The sky was so clear and this beautiful day made us feel so free. The temperature was -12.1 degrees at 8:00 a.m. due to the radiative cooling from yesterday. However, we felt not so cold because there was no wind. We could see the beautiful contrast of the white frozen trees on Mt. Omatsu summit area, Sugadaira Kogen areas and the blue sky.

Although the officially announced snow amount is still just 60cm now, the slopes are in good condition thanks to the high elevation and snowing machines. The groomed slopes of Mt. Omatsu GO-no-hara Course (Photo) and Mt. Omatsu Champion (Left in Photo) were in a mixed snow condition of the wet and corn snow. The edges of my skis worked well on the nicely firm slopes.

Almost all of the people riding at around 8:30 a.m. were alpen skiers or snowboarders. The lessons for the local elementary school students (Photo) and children on their school trip started at 9:00 a.m. and the slopes were getting busy gradually. By the way, White Peak Course, Pole Bahn and Fujimi Course were closed for private use.

The groomed slopes of the half of Mt. Omatsu Family Course (Photo) and Holiday Course were nicely firm and also in mixed snow condition. I saw the ground exposed in some slopes, but it did not matter for skiing. By the way, the free shuttle bus service from Nagano Station is extended to 2/5 (Sun) from 1/15 (Sun).
