Today, even with plenty of clouds in the sky, the sun was shining. The top half of the flatly-groomed Riesen Slalom Course (pictured) had a moderately firm wet surface, and compacted granular snow on the Usuba slope, located on the last part of the run. My skis slid well and I was able to ride at a good speed throughout the entire run.

In the morning, I saw quite a few people using the Riesen Quad to do nonstop laps of the Riesen Slalom Course. I spoke with a skier later in the day, who commented, “I hope it snows in the afternoon like the weather forecast says.” Strong wind was blowing down from the Northern Alps, which were occasionally shrouded in clouds, and even Riesen (pictured) had flurries of snow that had seemingly trickled down from the mountains above.

The best groomed slope of the day was the area alongside the Kurobishi 2 Quad (pictured). The edges of my skis bit firmly into the wide and evenly-groomed, wet snow surface with just the right amount of firmness. The southern route of Usagidaira was also easy to ski with firm, groomed wet snow conditions.
[Kurobishi Slope]
Medium to large sized moguls marked the surface of the snow along the Alpen Quad. The groomed central portion of the Skyline Course had similar conditions to the area near the Kurobishi 2 Quad, with a moderately firm, wet snow surface. The quality of the snow changed to granular snow as I entered the firm, groomed Kitaone Traverse Cat Track.
