Seeing the Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range shrouded in clouds, it was easy to assume that there would be snow later in the day, in line with the forecast. In the midst of a nice stretch of cold temperatures, today weak westerly winds blew across the slopes from time to time. On the hard packed, groomed wet snow of Route 5 (pictured) and Route 6, I was able to plant my edges and execute comfortable and controlled turns.

The visitor turnout was slow since it was a weekday in January. I spoke with two visitors from Hyogo Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “We love your site. We had a day off on a weekday, so we decided to come out to Goryu47 for a day trip. Last week we went to Shiga Kogen. We always try to ski where the conditions are good.”
[Upper Portion of Route 1]

The groomed surfaces of Route 8 (pictured) and the upper portion of Route 1 had moderately firm, very skiable wet snow conditions. The lower part of Route 1 had hard packed groomed wet snow at the beginning and icy groomed snow from the middle to the end of the route. There were some uneven spots from artificial snow, and I noticed quite a few skiers being careful to keep their edges planted.

In other news, there will be extensive renewal work at 47PARKS (pictured) over the two-day period between 1/23 (Mon.) and 1/24 (Tue.). As a result, an advanced lane should finally be available on 1/25 (Wed.). (*The size of the kickers will depend on the snow conditions.) This morning the park items were well maintained and in great, safe condition.
