As expected, the storm the night before last delivered a heavy snowfall that reset the entire ski resort back to proper January-like powder snow conditions! As I got off the Goryu Telecabin and walked around, I could hear the powder squeaking under my feet. A snowboarder (pictured), who was the first to arrive at the Grand Prix Course, greeted me, “Good morning! The weather and snow are great!”

On the widely-groomed Grand Prix Course (pictured) and Panorama Course, my edges bit into the moderately firm powder snow surface and held their grip like magnets on a metal surface. It was one of the top 3 best finishes on a groomer so far this season, and made me feel like my skiing had suddenly gotten much, much better!

Skiing down to the Dynamic Course, I found that the groomed snow surface had tightened up compared to higher on the mountain, but it was still easy to ski. There were also good skiing conditions on the groomed Woody Course and Toomi Slope, which both had reasonably firm powder snow surfaces. This morning the area along the Sky Four Lift was open for Sunrise Service, so there were already a lot of tracks when I arrived, but the snow remained soft.

The Merry Land (pictured) and Powder Snow courses were both groomed with well-pressed powder snow surfaces. In other news, DISCOVERY SPORT and DEFENDER were closed yesterday and today in order to host the due 38th Annual Shizuoka Prefecture Skiing Skills Championships.
