Tsugaike REPORT

2023.01.28216cm / Snowy

This morning, the snow that had died down in intensity around 8:00 once more gained momentum around 8:30, and it was extremely cold even on the Kane-no-naru-oka Slope at the bottom of the ski resort due to a strong northerly wind. I spoke with a family from Toyama Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “We love your site! It’s pretty cold and there is quite a bit of snow and wind, but it’s worth it to meet a reporter from Snownavi. My daughter is going to take a lesson with the Tsugaike Ski School today.”

The gondola started moving at the scheduled time of 8:00 start time, but the start of the No. 2 pair was pushed back due to work to clear the heavy snow from last night. The area alongside the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair Lift (pictured) was groomed with a moderately soft powder snow surface and was very easy to ski. Furthermore, the groomed steep section in the middle of the Han-no-ki Slopei had between 40 to 50 cm of fluffy new snow!

The One Course (pictured) and Sawa Course, which branch off from the Han-no-ki Slope, were also in excellent condition with moderately soft, groomed powder snow surfaces and a topping of around 10cm of light, fresh snow. A family from Shizuoka and Aichi that I met later on told me that they are fans of the Snownavi site and added that the new, fluffy powder snow was a lot of fun.

Although the falling snow and fog on the Kane-no-naru-oka Slope (pictured) and Maruyama Slope made it a little difficult to see the snow surface, the slopes themselves were moderately soft and groomed with 3 to 5 cm of fresh snow on top, making for easy, enjoyable turns. The central parking lot was full as of 9:30.
