While I was driving on the frozen road toward Shiga Kogen (*The upper part over the roop was frozen in National Highway 292), the dark sky was changing its color to pink, orange and yellow in the dawn. A brief sunlight in a lull of the big cold wave. Today was an ideal day for skiing with the blue sky and no winds.

To move from the summit area of Mt. Yokote to Shibu-toge, we skied down in the course through the frozen trees like snow monsters (Photo). We will have a fork to Gemut Course (3rd Photo) on the skier’s right and Waver Course on the skier’s left after that point. The groomed slopes of both were nicely firm and in a great condition thanks to the fresh snow.

One of the lift staff Shibu-toge Romance Pair ansewered to my saying “It’s so cold” like, “It is much warmer than usual thanks to the sunlight today.” The groomed slope of Mt. Yokote Jumbo Course was firm and that of Mt. Yokote No.2 Area was nicely firm as well.

We could see the beautiful view of the mountains such as Mt. Kasadake and frozen trees (Photo), while I was on Mt. Yokote No.3 Sky Pair. I met 2 people from Saitama Prefecture and they said, “We have been staying in Shiga Kogen since last Saturday. We had powdery snow on the first day and had a beautiful day on the last day today. It was so amazing!”
