Chuka Soba Inoue has been open for business inside the gondola mid-station area’s Yuki-no-hiroba since the beginning of the current winter season. The delicious “Chuka Soba” (pictured, ¥1,000) is loaded with homemade chashu pork (braised pork belly), crispy Awaji onions, and other tasty ingredients, and served with flat, straight noodles in a broth made from seafood stock and special soy sauce. The “Oden Assortment,” made with vegetables grown on Awaji Island, is simmered in the same broth and is available for ¥900.

In other news, TG PARKS is now open in the area alongside the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair Lift! Current elements include a wide box, thick PVC rail, 6m rail (pictured), 8m table top, 10m table top, 3 x 3m table tops, and more. All items were in great shape this morning.

The snow that was falling in the early morning hours stopped around 8:30. It was cold, which is typical for this part of the season, but the lack of wind made it nice to be outside. The Tsuga-no-mori Slope (pictured) had 1 to 2cm of light, fresh snow on top of a moderately firm, groomed powder snow surface that was perfect for making controlled, comfortable turns.

The Han-no-ki and Maruyama slopes (pictured), which also had a coating of 1 to 2 cm of new snow, featured firmly-groomed powder snow surfaces. I found it easy to set my edges and ski at speed. As is typical for a weekday, visitors were slow to turn up, but around 9:30, the slopes began to grow more lively with primarily families and international visitors.
