This morning the Alps-Daira area was shrouded in thick fog, and it was difficult to know where to ski without utilizing landmarks. I overheard visitors mentioning that they felt sick or felt completely disoriented because of the poor visibility. Dry snow was falling quietly in the cold air typical of the peak season.

The groomed Grand Prix (pictured) and Panorama courses had moderately firm powder snow conditions. While skiing down the firmly-groomed powder snow surface of the Dynamic Course, I emerged below the fog at the end of the course. The Woody Course was easy to ski, thanks to its good visibility and the reasonably firm, groomed powder snow.

The Powder Snow Course (pictured), Merry Land Course, and Toomi Slope were also groomed with moderately-packed, easy-to-ski powder snow. Many people were making their way to the lower portion of the ski resort due to the poor visibility plaguing the middle and upper portion of the resort, and there was a 1 to 2-minute wait for the Sky 4 Lift on the Tomi Slope, where lessons were being held for students on a school excursion.

The OGASAKA E-TURN Test Ride Event is now taking place in front of ESCAL Plaza for three days, from today to 2/5 (Sun.) (*9:30 a.m.〜, free of charge, ID required) I spoke with one of the staff, who told me, “These models can be enjoyed not only on the groomed runs, but also in the tree run areas, side-country, and backcountry. This is a great opportunity to come and give them a test ride.”
