Santa Claus and his reindeers starts warm-up for the Chiristmas Day (Photo). My thermometer showed just -15 degrees this morning and it is forecast that a big cold wave will come on 12/23 (Fri). They said, “The good quality of snow and length of the opening period are our reasons to come to Mt. Yakebitai.”

After our last reports, Takamagahara was open and the available areas expanded in Mt. Yokote and Kumanoyu. Here in Mt. Yakebitai, No.2 High Speed Quad was open as well as No.4 Romance (South Course) and Karamatsu Course (Photo) was open. South is good for warm-up with its gentle slope (Average 9 degrees, Max. 9 degrees) and then, you can enjoy the more difficult slope of Karamtasu (Average 11 degrees, Max. 20 degrees).

The groomed slope of Karamatsu Course which was made from mixed snow of the natural and artificial snow was nicely firm. South Course (Photo) was a little softer than that. A patrol staff said, “We would like to start the gondola as soon as possible, but the snow amount is still not enough. We hope we will have a good snowfall.”

I could hear people saying “The snow is good for carving.” and “The condition is nice.” at the lift station. Although the blue sky spread out at 8:30 a.m, the snowy clouds came from the north west and it started to snow slightly.
