Nakiyama Snowland, located at the base of the Nakiyama Slope, is not just for kids and families! With “one-point advice” available from Hakuba Happo-One Ski School instructors here, it is also recommended as a practice slope for adults that are first-timers or beginners. (*Admission fee is ¥1,200 yen for both adults and children / ¥600 yen for village residents.)

Of course, it’s a great area for sledding and playing in the snow as well. There are a number of unique sleds available, such as snow racers, snow runners, and saucers (pictured), as well as snowball makers and other equipment for playing around in the snow. I spoke with a mother from Tokyo (pictured), who told me, “The moving belt is very convenient, and my child can enjoy snowboarding and sledding here.”

The moving belt can be ridden by children and adults, and there is no need to take off your skis or snowboard. Food is also available for purchase from food trucks nearby in the “Mogumogu Hiroba” on the north side of the park, and there is a family room on the third floor of the center house that can be used by visitors who have purchased tickets to the Rabby Park. The space can be used for taking breaks, playing indoors, and for eating items purchased from the food trucks.

As for the slopes, the Alpen Quad, Kurobishi 2 Quad, Skyline 2 Pair, and Grat Quad were out of service in the morning due to thick fog on the upper portion of the ski resort. The groomed Riesen Slalom Course (pictured) had moderately firm powder snow up top, changing to moderately packed wet snow on the bottom half of the course.
