According to the forecast, a low pressure system is set to pass along the southern (Pacific Ocean) coast today. As a result, I thought temperatures would be warm but found them to be lower than I expected, and the dry snow that started to fall in the morning was being carried by southwest winds. The Tsuga-no-mori Slope (pictured) was in excellent groomed condition, with a moderately firm powder snow surface! My edges held well, and I enjoyed making controlled turns at speed.

The One and Sawa courses, which branch off of the Han-no-ki Slope, are currently closed from 2/6 (Mon.) to 2/12 (Sun.) due to work to build the TG PARKS. Because of an increase in the base, the park alongside the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair Lift is being moved to the One and Sawa courses where it is usually located. The area alongside the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair Lift had a firmly-groomed powder snow surface, while the surface on the middle to the end of Han-no-ki was composed of slightly softer, groomed wet snow.

The forest road course had a groomed wet snow surface with a powdery feel, while the Shirakaba Slope (pictured) was groomed with a firm wet snow surface that made it easy to ski. In other news, entries are now being accepted for the “Red Bull JUMP & FREEZE” event, which is scheduled to be held in front of the Yuki-no-hiroba on 3/21 (Tue., national holiday). If you’re not familiar with it, this festive event sees costumed participants gain speed on the groomed slope before hitting a ramp and catapulting themselves into the pool below!

Skiing conditions were good on the Oya-no-hara Slope (pictured) as well, with another moderately firm, groomed wet snow surface. Around 9:00 a.m. the falling snow picked up in intensity and the temperatures registered a slight drop, both of which were unexpected given the presence of the low-pressure system hovering off the south coast.
