A low-pressure system off the southern (Pacific Ocean) coast brought a good amount of snow (10 to 15 cm) to Iwatake during the day yesterday. The groomers got to work on both the East (pictured) and South slopes, and the result was moderately firm, groomed powder snow surfaces that were very skiable! The Sunny Valley Course was also groomed, with hard, wet snow on the top half of the course and softer conditions on the bottom half.

This morning, I observed a number of skiers and boarders heading into VIEW A (pictured), which has very interesting bowl-shaped terrain, in search of the fresh snow from the previous day. While the base of the snow was hard and wet, the new snow balanced things out nicely and overall conditions were good for skiing. It was a nice day to be on the slopes since the weather was mild and pleasant.

The IWATAKE SNOW PARK reopened yesterday, 2/10 (Fri.), after rebuilding work that took place from 2/7 (Tue.) to 2/9 (Thurs.)! The park’s slopes were groomed with a moderately firm powder snow surface that was easy to get up to speed on. By the way, the 18th edition of the “IWATAKE STYLE” event will be held on 2/13 (Mon.).

The park’s current lineup includes an 8-meter jump, a hip, a cannon rail, a narrow box, a spine PVC, a 10-meter rail, 3 consecutive 3-meter jumps, a double box, 4 waves, a pudding, 3 walls, a 6-meter jump, a 7.5-meter down rail, a double down rail, a 5-meter jump, a 3-way rainbow rail, a trapezoidal box (4th photo), and a box… 25 items in all!
