We joined DESCENTE First Track for the second time this winter to shoot the fresh slopes of Mt. Yakebitai with the first ski tracks. It was not as cold as in January, although it was a clear day with the radiative cooling and the temperature was -6 degrees. We had a calm morning with the refreshing air.

I moved to Olympic Course (Photo) which has the maximum degree of 31 and faces Mt. Iwasuge (2,295m) after the nicely firm groomed slope of Giant Slalom Course. I was amazed by the smooth but powerful turns of people on the groomed slope which was firmer than that of Giant Slalom Course.

If you match your timing to the opening time at 8:30 a.m. of the other courses, you can also enjoy the fresh slopes of Panorama Course or in Okushiga Kogen Ski Area. The groomed slope of Panorama Course (Photo) was nicely firm and in such good condition this morning.

A father of a family from Tokyo said, “We are staying at Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel from yesterday. The groomed slopes of this ski area are my favorite, so I cannot have a choice to visit other ski areas.” By the way, a steep slope which has a maximum degree of 39, Yakebi Wall (Left in Photo) was open on 2/9 (Thu).
